The Ashland (KY) Tomcat Boys tennis team won it's 9th straight boys region tennis championship by defeating Russell 14 - 12 at the Ashland Tennis Center. The Tomcats won both the doubles and sigles titles on the way to the championship. Senior Jeff Nelson and sophomore Greg Geremia won their second doubles title in a thrilling match 7-6, 7-5 over Russell Alex and Austin Christie. Then junior Stephen Metcalf won his 2nd singles title in a row by defeating Rose Hill 7th grader David Bush 6-4, 6-1. Ashland boys tennis coach called this championship the sweetest one ever because Russell was heavily favored to win the title after beating Ashland twice in the regular season.
