The Cadets played extremely well all evening and despite playing at home, Holy Cross could not quite find the speed and power that they had the previous evening at Paul VI. The first two sets were very close; Holy Cross rallied from being down in both sets - winning 25-21 and 25-23. A horrible accident occurred in the second set, when Lindsey Better landed off a block and essentially ended her season with a severe ankle sprain. Lindsey, who missed the beginning of the season while recovering from shoulder surgery, was coming on strong and had won back her starting position from last year. The Tartans will sorely miss Lindsey's energy, blocking ability, and offensive firepower. The Tartans could not shake off the accident to Better and were down 2-9 in the third set. At that point, the team rallied and went on a surprising 23-8 run winning the third and final set 25-17. Mary Beth Nalls, normally the Tartans stalwart on defense had a fantastic serving night with 3 aces and no serving errors on 14 attempts. Taylor Gallart had another tremendous match against St Johns recording 18 kills in 37 attempts. Grace Lide, Gyasi Gomez and Kaitlyn Hillard each added 3 kills. Holy Cross played great defense with Gallart (9 digs), Nalls (8 digs), Lide (5 digs) and Huelbig (4 digs) all scrambling to thwart the Cadets offense. Victoria Andrakakos once again led the Great Wall of Tartans recording 5 blocks.
