Are you the student-athlete that follows up on a commitment that you have made to your parents, teachers, coaches, or teammates? It is somewhat discouraging to those in charge when someone accepts the challenge of doing something and then they don't follow through. If you commit to doing something, make sure you do your part. Most teachers and coaches will tell you that they look at the effort, just as much as they look at the result. If there is a project in the classroom, or new play or fundamental to learn in your sport, follow through and do your part. Set yourself up for success! Content property of Billy Shepherd Sports Inc. Most student-athletes can perform in the classroom and on the athletic field when things are going well and there doesn't seem to be too much push or pressure from the opposition. However, when things aren't going as well and you seem to be struggling in the classroom or on the field of play, how do you react? When the pressure is on and you need to turn it up a notch or two, do you know how to do so? The best answer to this question is one simple word, preparation. Those who are prepared, whether in the classroom or on the field of play, will do a better job when the pressure is really on. Preparation will help your confidence and self esteem! The end of the school year could be compared to the last few minutes of a ball game; you want to be doing your best when it comes to your final exams.
Are you prepared for your final tests of the year? If not, it's time to get focused on the task ahead and challenge yourself for the final weeks of this school year. Don't let your grade point average slip because of lack of preparation. Just like in a successful victory in the playing arena, don't rely on that last second shot. Prepare yourself for the rest of this month! Content property of Billy Shepherd Sports Inc.
