AACC Baseball tops Prince George's

March 15, 2013
By Duane Herr of ANNE ARUNDEL COMMUNITY COLLEGE

With a victory over Prince George’s CC on Thursday, Anne Arundel’s baseball team has won four of their last five games, outscoring opponents 43-11 in those wins.

Despite giving up a first inning run to PGCC the Pioneers (4-6, 2-1 conf.) took control of the game early and kept it for the duration. PGCC (1-7, 0-3) would score their second and final run in the fourth inning as AACC pitcher Mark Frost went the distance holding the Owl’s to two runs on four hits.

The Pioneers were held scoreless through the first two innings but posted three runs in the third. After two more blank frames AACC plated five runs in the sixth inning and two runs in both the seventh and eighth innings. The 12-2 Pioneer lead placed the ten run rule in effect ending the game after the bottom of the eighth.

AACC produced 10 hits in the game. Kody Hines led Pioneer hitters with three hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Zach Weiss and Zach Maddox each went two-for-five with a pair of runs scored. Brandon Eady scored twice and drove in a run. Jake Rich, Xavier Dixon, and Chris Crawford each accounted for an RBI as well.

Weather permitting the Pioneers will host Allegany College of Maryland in a MD JUCO Division II doubleheader on Saturday, March 16th at 12pm.

Next week AACC travels south to play a host of North Carolina teams before returning home to host doubleheaders against Chesapeake College on the 23rd and Erie CC on the 24th.
