They did just that as they topped the College of Southern Maryland 97-82 on Wednesday evening. With a 5-0 mark overall and 1-0 conference record, the Pioneers are averaging 95 points per game and are shooting 49.5% from the field. In the game against College of Southern Maryland, Darnell Solomon exploded for 31 points to lead AACC offensively. He earned a triple double with 13 rebounds and 11 assists. Jalen Lester added 17 points on 7-10 shooting. Tyler Washington scored 16 points, two of which coming from a put back over two defenders. Washington also collected 8 rebounds and 4 assists. James Aorilio added 15 points for AACC. Through their first five games the Pioneers have shown that they can score points, add effective pressure on defense and they are certainly exciting to watch. Men’s basketball plays their next game on the road at CCBC Essex, Friday night at 7pm. They return home next week for games Monday against Allegany College of Maryland and Wednesday against Montgomery College. Both games tip-off at 7pm.
