The Anne Arundel Community College Pioneers Men’s Baseball team has announced the hiring of Brent Brown as the pitching coach for the 2013 season. Brown will join the Pioneers for their fall 2012 training sessions.

“I’m extraordinarily pleased that we’re going to be able to add Coach Brown’s knowledge and ability to our program. His experience and ability to teach the game will be instrumental in strengthening our pitching staff from a competitive standpoint, as well as preparing our pitchers to play at the next level,” commented Head Coach David Fletcher.

“I’m excited to be joining the Pioneers. I’ve seen what Coach Fletcher and his staff has been able to do in just 2 years turning around this program. With the momentum we’ve already built, I can’t wait to see what happens,” said Brown. Brown joins the Pioneers most recently from Siena Heights University in Michigan, where he led development of the pitching staff resulting in decreasing the team ERA by more than three runs a game. Brown will be moving from Texas, where he’s earned his Master’s in education while coaching at camps for TCU and LSU.

Brown has served as the head coach at the high school level, where he led a young team to finish 2nd in Maine, as well as an assistant at the college level. “Browns experience working with young people as well as at the D1 level is a tremendous advantage for our athletes. Brown fortifies the intent of our program to run just like a 4?year Division 1 program,” added Fletcher.

The Pioneers are coming off the school’s first ever 40?win season. Going into 2013, the Pioneers have attracted the best recruiting class to date, with 30 new players joining an already successful squad. The recruiting class, highlighted by pitcher Josh Hader (Old Mill), who was drafted and signed with the Baltimore Orioles, promises to keep the Pioneers success rising. “The talent the Pioneers have been able to attract is going to make my job much easier,” added Brown.
