Home » General NewsAACC Baseball Battles in First Round of Region 20 TourneyMay 11, 2012 By Duane Herr of ANNE ARUNDEL COMMUNITY COLLEGEAACC’s Baseball team played in the opening round of the Region 20 Tournament this morning at 10am against ASA from New York. The Pioneers were down 3-0 after the 2nd inning and despite chipping away they couldn’t seem to catch up as ASA piled on runs of their own. Facing a 12-6 deficit late in the game the Pioneers put together a huge 8th inning to tie the game at 12-12. Kevin Kean, Kody Hines, and Daniel Seeba blasted back to back to back doubles to close the deficit. In the top of the 9th ASA got two quick base runners to put the pressure on the Pioneers. With two outs, ASA delivered a two run triple to take a 14-12 lead. The Pioneers were unable to reach base in the bottom of the 9th and lost the first game of the tournament. The loss forces AACC to play in the 4pm game today at Chesapeake College against the loser of the second game between Harford CC and Potomac State College of West Virginia. With a win the 4pm game today the Pioneers would play tomorrow at 2:30pm.
