Anne Arundel’s baseball team continued to build on their late season momentum with a sweep of Montgomery College Germantown on Saturday afternoon. The two wins give the Pioneers an eight game win streak and they have won 16 of their last 18 ball games.
In game one against Germantown the Pioneers jumped on the board early with two first inning runs. In the bottom of the third Germantown rallied for four runs to take a 4-2 lead. Chipping away the Pioneers added a run in the top of the 4th and tied it with another run in the top of the 6th inning.
With the game tied 4-4 neither team could plate a run in the 7th sending it to extra innings. Despite a two out triple in the 8th by Pioneer outfielder Burnell Dailey AACC was retired to end the inning. Sam Myers continued to pitch well late into his 8 inning performance for the Pioneers by retiring Germantown in order in the bottom of the 8th. Myers would face two batters in the 9th before being replaced by Rob Warwick.
Each team had base runners on in the 9th but couldn’t work them around as the game headed into the 10th inning. With one out the Pioneers loaded the bases and Kevin Kean drew a walk for the go ahead run. Two batters later Daniel Seeba stepped to the plate and blasted a three run double giving AACC an 8-4 lead. Rob Warwick retired Germantown in order in the bottom half of the inning to secure the game one victory for the Pioneers.
