Home » General NewsAACC Baseball Sweeps Germantown, Travels to Chesapeake TodayApril 30, 2012 By Duane Herr of ANNE ARUNDEL COMMUNITY COLLEGEAnne Arundel’s baseball team continued to build on their late season momentum with a sweep of Montgomery College Germantown on Saturday afternoon. The two wins give the Pioneers an eight game win streak and they have won 16 of their last 18 ball games. In game one against Germantown the Pioneers jumped on the board early with two first inning runs. In the bottom of the third Germantown rallied for four runs to take a 4-2 lead. Chipping away the Pioneers added a run in the top of the 4th and tied it with another run in the top of the 6th inning. With the game tied 4-4 neither team could plate a run in the 7th sending it to extra innings. Despite a two out triple in the 8th by Pioneer outfielder Burnell Dailey AACC was retired to end the inning. Sam Myers continued to pitch well late into his 8 inning performance for the Pioneers by retiring Germantown in order in the bottom of the 8th. Myers would face two batters in the 9th before being replaced by Rob Warwick. Each team had base runners on in the 9th but couldn’t work them around as the game headed into the 10th inning. With one out the Pioneers loaded the bases and Kevin Kean drew a walk for the go ahead run. Two batters later Daniel Seeba stepped to the plate and blasted a three run double giving AACC an 8-4 lead. Rob Warwick retired Germantown in order in the bottom half of the inning to secure the game one victory for the Pioneers. Burnell Dailey: 3 for 5, 2 runs, 2 triples, 2 stolen bases Kevin Kean: 2 for 4, 3 runs, 2 RBI, 3 stolen bases Daniel Seeba: 2 for 5, 3 RBI, 2 stolen bases Sam Myers: 8.1 IP, 8 hits, 4 runs, 5 strikeouts
The Pioneers scored first in game two as well with one run in the second and a run in the third inning. With a 2-0 lead heading into the 6th inning AACC added two more to build a 4-0 lead. Germantown would score their lone run of the game in the bottom of the 6th. In the top of the 7th the Pioneers piled on four more runs to close the door and take the 8-1 victory. Anne Arundel pitched by committee using four pitchers to hold Germantown to one run on five hits. Thomas Lacey pitched four innings surrendering one run off of four hits with a strikeout. Garrett Sancomb, Connor Hall, and Glenn Watson each pitched an inning of scoreless ball. Burnell Dailey: 2 for 4, double, stolen base, run, 2 RBI Kody Hines: 2 for 4, run, RBI, stolen base Kevin Kean: 2 for 3, 3 runs, double, stolen base Daniel Seeba: 1 for 4, 2 RBI, stolen base Zach Weiss: 1 for 3, run With an overall record of 38-13 and a MD JUCO conference record of 18-7 AACC sits at third place in the conference with two games left to play in their regular season. Those two games will come in the form of a doubleheader at Chesapeake College Monday, April 30th at 2pm. The Division 1 contest will determine where the teams fall for the upcoming Region 20 Tournament hosted by Chesapeake May 11th – 13th.
