AACC Softball Sizzles, Has Won 14 of last 15

      Continuing their hot streak AACC’s Women’s Softball team improved their win streak to six games in a row with two wins over Montgomery College of Rockville on Wednesday. Having won 14 of their last 15 games the Pioneers boast a 35-8 overall record with an 18-2 MD JUCO conference record.

       Locked in a pitching duel in game one of the doubleheader the Pioneers edged Rockville 3-0 with timely hitting and aggressive base running while Elaine Nescio went to work on the mound. Nescio allowed three hits while striking out 14 to earn the complete game shut-out.

Darah Lamarsh: 2 for 3

Jennifer Newman: 1 for 3

Courtney Strambler: 1 for 3, run scored

Janie Thrift: 1 for 3, run scored

Amberly Holcomb: 1 for 3, RBI

Liz Cox: RBI

Christiana Christofaro: run scored

 

      In game two the Pioneer bats came alive exploding for 11 runs on 13 hits. Shelby Smith held Rockville to six runs on four hits in five innings of work. Liz Cox pitched two innings and didn’t surrender a run or a hit.

Lamarsh: 3 for 4, 2 runs, RBI

Nescio: 2 for 4, 2 runs

Newman: 2 for 3, run, 4 RBI

Thrift: 2 for 3, 2 runs, RBI

Strambler: 2 for 4, run, RBI

Smith: 1 for 3, run, 3 RBI

Holcomb: 1 for 4, run

 

      AACC Softball is scheduled to play their final regular season games on Saturday, April 28th at Garrett College. Garrett was just recently pounded with snow showers so a schedule change may be necessary. 

      The following weekend Anne Arundel is hosting the Region XX Women’s Softball Tournament. Tournament play will begin on Friday, May 4th.
