AACC Softball Sweeps Rappahannock

Anne Arundel CC’s Women’s Softball team improved on their win streak with a weekend sweep of Rappahannock CC on Saturday, April 21st. The Pioneers have now won four games in a row after defeating Rappahannock 4-0 and 15-7.
With just four games left in the regular season Anne Arundel Softball is now 33-8 overall with an 18-2 Maryland JUCO record.
In game one of the doubleheader Elaine Nescio pitched a three hit shutout to blank Rappahannock. Nescio struck out 16 batters which brings her total to 264 on the season. Courtney Strambler led the Pioneers offensively with a 3 for 4 game and a run scored. Jennifer Newman added a pair of hits while Liz Cox, Shelby Smith and Amberly Holcomb each had hits. Janie Thrift and Christiana Christofaro each scored a run and added an RBI. Nescio also had one hit and an RBI.
In game two Shelby Smith toed the rubber for the Pioneers pitching four innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three. Smith also scored a run for AACC. Four Pioneers had multi-hit games while Janie Thrift led the way with a 3 for 3 game driving in three runs and scoring twice. Liz Cox went 2 for 3 with a double, run scored and four runs batted in. Elaine Nescio added two hits including a triple while driving in three runs and scoring twice. Jennifer Newman was 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Megan Kegley, Darah Lamarsh, and Courtney Strambler each had hits in the game. Lamarsh and Amberly Holcomb both scored three times in the game.
AACC Softball plays their final regular season home game of the season on Wednesday, April 25th in a 3pm doubleheader against Montgomery College of Rockville.
Anne Arundel is hosting the Region 20 Women’s Softball Tournament on May 4th through May 6th featuring the top teams in the region. Times are to be announced.
