Home » General NewsAACC Baseball Sweeps Again, Improves to Nine in a RowMarch 12, 2012 By Duane Herr of ANNE ARUNDEL COMMUNITY COLLEGEAnne Arundel Baseball improved on their win streak this weekend sweeping another pair of doubleheaders making it nine wins in a row for the Pioneers. The weekend sweep included games against #15 Frederick Community College and Jefferson Community College from New York. On Saturday March 10th the Pioneers hosted Frederick Community College for a 12pm double header. Frederick began the season with an NJCAA Division II National Rank of 15 and was undefeated in six games so far this season. In game one the Pioneers used an impressive six inning, four hit performance from sophomore pitcher Brooks Miller to quiet the Cougars offense and take the 8-5 victory. In game two it was freshman Rob Warwick with a 6.2 inning gem holding Frederick to three runs for a 7-3 final and a series sweep for AACC. The two wins over Frederick put the Pioneers on the board in conference play with a 2-0 record. On Sunday it was more of the same for AACC as Pioneer pitching shut down the offense this time coming from sophomore John Murawski. Murawski hurled four innings against Jefferson Community College allowing just two hits and no runs as the Pioneers ten run ruled the Cannoneers with a 10-0 victory. In the final game of the weekend AACC hoped to have the brooms out once again as they played for their fourth consecutive series sweep. Freshman Sam Myers pitched five innings allowing three runs while striking out five. The Cannonneers held a 9-5 lead going into the bottom of the seventh but a five run seventh inning for the Pioneers allowed them to walk off with their ninth win in a row.
