Emily Thomas goes 2-0 after week 1

The Princeton girls tennis team dropped a pair of matches to begin week one of the regular season last week. Emily Thomas improved to 2-0 in match play, while Ashley Spiller finished 1-1 at second singles.

The Vikings lost to McAuley 3-2 on Monday, August 18. Princeton's Thomas defeated first singles Raleigh 6-0, 6-0, and Ashley Spiller won in second singles 6-4, 7-6.

In third singles, Donnillia Powell and third singles player, Hemmeigarn went down to the wire. Hemmeigarn edged Powell after a tremendous effort from third singles play from both players, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.

 

The Vikings opened up league play against the Firebirds of Lakota West on Tuesday, August 19. Thomas continued her impressive play at first singles, defeating Danaqua in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. However, Lakota West would defeat Princeton 4-1.

 

Princeton returns to the courts on Monday, August 25 against St. Ursula at the Princeton High School Main Tennis Courts. Match begins at 4:00pm.
