Witcher and Rainey Advance to State

For the second consecutive year, senior Halen Witcher will compete in the 400-meter dash at the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Championship on Friday, June 6 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University.

Witcher finished second at Friday's final heat with a time of 49.18 seconds. He will enter the pre-lims with the 8th fastest time of the 16 participants.

Making his first individual state championship appearance is junior Kevin Rainey, who finished second at the Regionals in the 110-meter hurdles. Rainey's time of 14.26 was his personal best, which was previously 14.5 seconds.

The Vikings 4x400-meter relay (Marcus Placke, Halen Witcher, Josh Jasper, Brennan Summerlin) missed qualifying to next week by 0:0.02 seconds. Princeton finished in 3:22.48.

Brandon Mullins finished 15th in the 800-meter run in 2:01.41.

Head Coach Terrance Stallings has sent 9 athletes to the State Championships in his three-year tenure at the helm of the boys' track & field program. Stallings has been named the Greater Miami Coach of the Year in 2012, and is one of the premier coaches in the area.
