State Wrestling Update

Senior AJ Kowal fell short of becoming Princeton's first state champion since 1969, falling to Tony Dailey of Massillon Perry 6-5 on Saturday, March 1 at the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Championship in Columbus, Ohio.

The two wrestlers displayed terrific skills as both athletes would counter for their respective points. Trailing by one point, Kowal nearly pulled off an unbelievable takedown, but time would run out.

Kowal finished the season 48-3 with 34 pins.


Senior Brandon Selmon also represented Princeton at the State meet. Selmon started off the tournament with an early loss, but was able to bounce back with a strong win to finish 1-1 after the first day.

Brandon squared off against Jason Spencer of Massillon Perry in an incredible match that needed to be decided in overtime. Spencer was able to gain an early point and prevent Selmon was scoring in the final seconds.

Brandon finished his senior season with a 27-10 record.
