Box Score

The Princeton Lady Vikings will keep their dancing shoes on for another game, as they defeated Kettering Fairmont 81-65 in the Regional Semi-finals at Wright States' Nutter Center on Wednesday, March 5.

Fairmont entered the game winners of the last three meetings, as Princeton looked to get back to the Regional Championship game for the first time since the 2004 season.

Unlike the previous meeting earlier in the season (63-54 L), Princeton was the aggressor, attacking the Fairmont defense at will. Coach Phillips and her offense seemed to find an open hole in the very talented Firebirds' defense. Led by senior Kelsey Mitchell's 21 first-half points, Princeton went into the locker room with a 38-25 advantage, shooting 54 percent from the floor.

Junior Corneisha Henderson knocked down a pair of three pointers to finish with 12 points and give Fairmont another concern from the perimeter. Princeton shot 7-of-14 from behind the arc.

Fairmont did not roll over and continued to cut into Princeton's lead late in the second half. The Firebirds were able to cut the gap to within 10 points a few times in the fourth quarter, but Princeton's Jada Ballew drilled a deep three-pointer to keep Princeton's double digit lead.

A strong Vikings win was led by Kelsey Mitchell, Associated Press Southwest District Division I player of the year, with a single game scoring record of 50 points.

Mitchell's 50-point performance was remarkable, but Kelsey was able to find the open player all night with the Firebirds double and triple teaming the McDonald's All-American. Mitchell finished with 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

Seniors' Chelsea Mitchell and Carlie Pogue each added 6 points in the win.

The Firebirds (23-3) were led by Kathryn Westbeld's 28 point performance.

Princeton are winners of 13 consecutive games, and will match up against Greater Miami Conference foe Lakota West for a ticket to the State Final Four on Friday, March 14 at 6:00pm at the Jerome Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University.

Pre-sale tickets are available in the Athletic Office for $6.
