The Princeton Lady Vikings are marching their way to the Regional Semi-finals after claiming a 77-64 win over the McAuley Mohawks in the District Championship game on Saturday, March 1 at Harrison High School.

Princeton weathered the storm in the first period of play with 9 team fouls going against the them, but would outscore the Mohawks 26-16 in the quarter thanks to strong play from its role players.

Top-seeded Vikings shot over 58 percent from the floor in the first half to take a 14 point advantage at the break.

Senior Kelsey Mitchell was sensational on the floor, scoring 40 points from 17-of 29 shooting. Mitchell's scoring was not the only headache the Mohawks had to deal with. Kelsey broke down the McAuley defense at will and found other players in great scoring opportunities. Mitchell finished with 9 assists.

Led by Jasmyn Hardin and Carlie Pogue, the Lady Vikes controlled the interior. Princeton outrebounded McAuley 33-28, and record 5 blocked shots (4 from Pogue).

Jada Ballew and Quierra Drake provided a spark at the guard position to control the tempo of the game. Drake finished with 4 points, 2 assists, and 3 steals, while Ballew chipped in with 2 points, 3 assists, and 1 steal.

Jordan Bruenton was perfect from the floor to finish with 6 points.

The Lady Vikes extended their lead to 23 points to keep dancing into the tournament.

Princeton will take on Kettering Fairmont in a rematch from an early season 63-54 loss at Fairmont. The two teams will collide on Wednesday, March 5 at Wright State University at 6:15pm.

Pre-sale tickets are available for $6 in the Athletic Office, and tickets at the game will be $8.
