Lady Vikes cruise to Districts

The Princeton girls' basketball team defeated the Colerain Cardinals 73-44 to advance to the Southwest District Finals on Saturday, March 1 at Harrison High School against the McAuley Mohawks at 11:00am.
The Lady Vikes, who entered the contest winning its last 10 consecutive games, jumped out to a 16-1 lead in the opening minutes of play.
Senior Kelsey Mitchell scored 20 of her game high 26 points to lead the Vikings 47-19 at the break.
Princeton continued to extend the lead in the second half with strong defensive play and excellent shooting.
The defense limited Colerain to shooting 25 percent from the floor and forced the Cardinals into 24 turnovers.
Offensively, Princeton shot 40 percent (24-60) from the floor and an impressive 14-of-16 from the charity stripe.
Senior Carlie Pogue recorded another double double, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Corneisha Henderson added 11 points, including 3-of-3 from behind the arc.
Chelsea Mitchell and Jada Ballew each scored 8 points, and Jasmyn Hardin chipped in 4 points.
Jordan Bruenton rounded off the scoring with 2 points.
Princeton will play McAuley for the District Championship on Saturday, March 1 at Harrison High School at 11:00am. In the previous meeting, Princeton defeated the Mohawks 75-49.
