Lady Vikes advance with 61-23 win
February 20, 2014Princeton High School
The Princeton girls' basketball team extended their winning streak to ten games after defeating the Loveland Tigers 61-23 in the Second Round of the Sectional Tournament on Wednesday, February 19 at Lakota East High School.
Princeton jumped out to a 21-9 first quarter lead and never looked back. The Tigers had difficulty defending the explosive offensive, and connecting on scoring opportunities against a stingy Princeton defense. The Lady Vikes kept Loveland to 25 percent shooting from the field, and forced the opposition to 26 turnovers.
Offensively, the Lady Vikes had nine different players score. Senior Kelsey Mitchell finished the game with 14 points, 5 steals, and 4 assists. Junior Corneisha Henderson added 9 points, and senior Jasmyn Hardin chipped in with 8 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the floor.
Seniors Jada Ballew and Quierra Drake each added 7 and 4 points respecitively for Coach Phillips starting lineup.
Led by Carlie Pogue's 14 points off the bench, Princeton received strong minutes from Chelsea Mitchell, Aleah Hunn, Olivia Lohmeier, Jordann Bruenton, and Demeka Hayden.
Princeton will take on Greater Miami Conference foe, Colerain on Monday, February 24 at 6:00pm at Lakota East High School. Pre-sale tickets are available in the athletic office for $6.
