Lady Vikes knock off Mason, control GMC

The Princeton girls basketball team knocked off top ranked Mason Comets 63-52 in front of a sold out gymnasium at Princeton High School on Saturday, February 1. The win gave the Lady Vikes sole possession of first place in the Greater Miami Conference.
The back and forth contest showcased excellent high school basketball on both ends of the floor, supported by 8 lead changes and 6 number of ties.
Princeton led 26-23 at the half, and jumped out quickly in the second half. The Lady Vikes who were fueled by the home croud in a very loud atmosphere, pushed the lead to 13 late in the fourth quarter.
McDonald's All American, Kelsey Mitchell, led all scorers with 26 points. Mitchell dished out 5 assists and had 7 of the team's 10 steals.
The Lady Vikings received a huge spark off the bench from Jada Ballew, as she knocked down 4 of her 5 shots, including 2-for-2 from behind the arc. Ballew went 3-of-5 at the charity stripe to finish the game with 13 points.
Princeton shot 42 percent from the floor and limited the Comets to just 33 percent.
Princeton looks to capture its fourth conference title in the last five seasons, as they are in the driver's seat with just 3 regular season games to go.
The team returns to the court on Monday, February 3 in a rescheduled contest with the Colerain Cardinals. The two teams will tip off at 7:30pm at Princeton High School.
