Lady Vikings cruise over Lakota East

The girls' basketball team bounced back from their loss to nationally ranked, Regis Jesuit, with a 79-45 home win against the Lakota East Thunderhawks.
Princeton jumped out to a commanding 27-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. The Lady Vikings shot 49 percent from the floor, connecting on 31 field goals and dishing out 16 assists.
The defense limited the opposition to shooting 27 percent from the field, and forced 26 Thunderhawks' turnovers.
Princeton had a balance scoring attack, which was led by Kelsey Mitchell's 27 point performance. Mitchell knocked down 5 three pointers, which tied the single game mark.
Markayla Sherman added 14 points off the bench and recorded 4 steals on defense.
Also reaching double figures scoring was Carlie Pogue with 12 points. She also added 8 rebounds and a block shot on the defensive end of the floor.
Olivia Lohmeier added 6 points, and Chelsea Mitchell, Jasmyn Hardin, and Quierra Drake each added 4 points.
In the final minutes of play, Demeka Hayden broke loose down the court for the contested layup.
Princeton turns back around on Thursday for a non-conference matchup with Winton Woods. The two teams will tip-off at Princeton High School at 7:30pm.
