December 16, 2013Princeton High School
The Princeton wrestling team placed 14th overall in the fierce Raider Rumble on Saturday, December 14 at Ryle High School in Kentucky. Top teams from Kentucky, Indiana, and Southwest Ohio came together in what many would consider to be the toughest tournament on a team's regular season schedule.
AJ Kowal continued its dominating start to the season, winning the 170 lb Championship against Johnny Mieman of Ryle, 10-0. Kowal is currently 10-0 on the season.
Brandon Selmon finished in third place at the 132 weight class, improving to 8-2 on the year.
The big story of the day came at the 138 pound weight class. Anthony Alexander put up an outstanding fight against three-time Ohio State Placer and nationally ranked, Preston Bowshier of Kenton Ridge. Alexander proved that he could compete with anyone on the mat despite falling 11-10. Alexander would place fifth in the tournament.
Other notable finishes were Demarco Smith placing 6th at 182 weight class, Brad Bennett 7th at 152 weight class, and Khalil Frazier finished 7th at 195.
Princeton travels to Harrison High School on Saturday, December 21 to compete in the Southwest Ohio Coaches Classic.
