Pogue's strong start helps Vikings cruise past Fairfield

Senior Carlie Pogue scored 23 first half points to lead the #1 Princeton Lady Vikings over the Fairfield Indians, 66-43 on Saturday, December 14 at Princeton High School. The Lady Vikes improve to 5-1 on the regular season, and 3-0 in the Greater Miami Conference.
Pogue scored Princeton's first 9 points of the game, as she was the recipient of excellent interior passing by the other Vikings on the floor. Princeton shot 47 percent in the first half to take a 41-22 lead into the locker room.
The Vikings defense limited Fairfield to shooting just 26 percent from the floor, and finished the day with 13 steals.
Kelsey Mitchell scored 10 points in the second half to finish the game as the high scorer of 25 points. Mitchell added 5 assists and 5 steals to the stat sheet.
After an excellent first half, Fairfield limited Pogue to just 1 point. She ended the game with 24 points off of 11-13 shooting from the floor, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots.
Jasmyn Hardin also reached double digits with 10 rebounds.
Jade Ballew finished with 5 points, and Chelsea Mitchell and Markayla Sherman each scored 3 points.
Also adding to the scoring column was Quierra Drake, Corneisha Henderson, and Olivia Lohmeier with 2 points a piece.
Princeton will rest up during the week and return to action Saturday, December 21 at Middletown. The Vikings and Middies are set to tip-off at 2:00pm.
