Vikings show dominance in win
October 11, 2013Princeton High School
The Princeton boys' water polo team had a dominate performance on senior night, defeating Mason 12-9 on Wednesday, October 9 at Princeton High School. Seniors' Jake Mazzone, DJ Svensson, Dustin Dykes, Collin Robin, Max Galster, and Malcolm Matthews were recognized before the game for the hard work that each of them have put into the boys' water polo program over the years. These young men have continued the strong tradition of success with our men's program.
Princeton, who were coming off wins against #2 Mason and #1 in the Northern Division, Columbus St. Charles, continued its success in front of a packed crowd. The players were fueled by the encouragement from the fans and jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, with goals from Dustin Dykes and Jake Mazzone.
Leading 6-4 at the break, both teams were in a dog fight against two well coached programs with great talent. Mason was able to get within one goal, but Princeton scored on a key transition in the closing minutes. The defense, behind Willie Cheney closed the door.
Princeton prepares for the Regional Tournament next weekend at Mason High School.
