Girls' Tennis places 9th at GMC Championships

The Princeton girls' tennis team participated in the Greater Miami Conference Championships on Thursday, September 26 and Saturday, September 28 at the Mason Tennis Complex in Mason, Ohio. The Vikings earned 11 team points to finish nineth overall.
Ashley Spiller placed 10th at 1st Singles, losing to Mason's Elizabeth Kong (6-0, 6-0), Abby Rembold of Oak Hills (8-1), and Fairfield's Sarah Reed (8-6).
Michaela Pettis defeated Lauren Beckmeyer of Middletown 6-0, 6-3 in her first match, before falling to Mason's Lynn Kelly 6-0, 6-0. Pettis moved to the back draw and lost to Allie Chadwick of Hamtilon 8-1. The loss forced Pettis to match up against Colerain's Emily Fox for seventh place in 2nd Singles. Fox defeated Pettis in a very tough battle, 9-7.
In 3rd Singles, Donnilia Powell finished nineth overall after falling to Brooke Faxon of Lakota East (6-0, 6-0), and Jillian Lancaster of Hamilton (8-6). Powell defeated Middletown's Darah Morgan (8-1) in the 9th place match.
First doubles tandem, Alyah Brown and Ryah Harrison placed eighth overall. Brown/Harrison lost in a tough first round matchup with Caroline Hicks/Emily Roberts of Hamilton (3-6, 6-2, 1-6). Moving to the back draw, Brown/Harrison defeated Middletown's Madi Hiler/Taryn Reogelsperger, 8-2 to advance to the 5th place match. However, Princeton faced a tough test with Rachel Barker/Brooke Robertson of Fairfield, falling 8-5. Brown/Harrison would finish the tournament with a 8-1 loss to Hamilton.
Deja Luckett and Imani Roberson began 2nd Doubles play with a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Oak Hills' Clare Burne/Hailey Ryan. Luckett/Roberson would drop their second match in the back draw to Fairfield's Cassie Cox/Kelsi Sievering, 8-1. The Vikings would bounce back in their final match, defeating Middletown's Jacey Riley/Katie Taylor 8-1.
Princeton will compete in the sectional tournament Thursday morning.
