The Princeton girls' soccer team lost to the Mason Comets 3-1 on Thursday, September 19 at Viking Stadium. The loss drops the Vikings to 1-6-2 overall, and 0-3-1 in the Greater Miami Conference.
After a scoreless first half of play, Mason's Chloe Knue, the league's offensive leader, gave the Comets a 1-0 lead in the early minutes of the second half. Mason continued to attack on the offensive end, finishing the night with 23 shots on the Vikings' defense.
Just under 5 minutes remaining in the second half, Princeton put together a strong attack with freshman Jaelyn Stanley scoring off a deflection inside the 8 yard box to cut the deficit to 3-1. The Vikings would run out of time despite the strong attack in the final minutes of play.
Junior Abby Stevens took the loss in net for Princeton, finishing with 10 saves.
Princeton will travel to Sycamore on Tuesday, September 24 at 7:00pm.
