Pate scores twice to help Vikings win season opener
August 21, 2013Princeton High School
The Princeton boys' soccer team opened up their regular season schedule with a 4-2 win against the Wyoming Cowboys on Tuesday, August 20 at Viking Stadium.
The Vikings got on the board first as junior Tre Pate got through the Cowboys' defense to beat the keeper for his first of two goals in the game. Wyoming would respond late in the first half to tie the score before heading into the break.
Princeton quickly turned up its offense attack to start the second half. Senior Noah Kiser would find Pate on a beautiful cross to give the Vikings a 2-1 advantage. Less than 6 minutes later, Princeton capitilized on another set piece. This time, Kiser connected with senior Nathan Walz.
Wyoming would respond with a goal of their own in the second half, but Princeton's defense limited the Cowboys down the stretch. Midway through the second half, Maleck Dem connected with Oumar N'Gaide to put the game out of reach.
Princeton (1-0) returns to action Wednesday, August 21 at Talawanda beginning at 7:00pm.
