Boys Water Polo falls at Napoleon Invite
August 21, 2013Princeton High School
The Princeton boys' water polo team opened up the season competing in the Napoleon Invite on Saturday, August 17. The Vikings lost all three games.
In game one, Princeton lost 14-9 to Kilbourne. The offense was led by Dustin Dykes, DJ Svensson, and Jake Mazzone. Willie Cheney recorded 9 blocks in the loss.
Allen Mott sparked the Vikings in game two against St. Charles. Mott played all but two minutes, finishing with 5 steals and 4 assists. However, the Vikings were unable to rally back, falling 18-12.
In the final game, neither Princeton or Napolean could secure the lead. The Wildcats managed to go up two goals late in the final minutes, but the Vikings stormed back with a goal of their own. Princeton's defense was tested in the final second, but the Vikings held their ground and quickly created a last second opportunity. Just 6 seconds remaining, the Wildcats goalie made a great save to secure the 11-10 win over the Vikings.
Princeton (0-3) will return to the water on Saturday, August 24 as they compete in the Milford Invitational.
