Lady Vikes Cruise to 5th Straight Sectional Title

The Princeton girls' basketball team defeated the Kings Knights 71-35 in the Sectional Championship game on Monday, February 26 at Lakota East High School. This is the fifth consecutive sectional title for Coach Jill Phillips and the Lady Vikes. Princeton has won eight in a row, and improve to 18-7 on the season.

The Lady Vikes were in complete control from the start of the game, jumping out to a 17-6 lead after the first quarter. 

Princeton was led by Kelsey MitchellChelsea Mitchell, and Carlie Pogue. Kelsey finished with a game high 17 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals. Chelsea scored 16 points and 5 assists, and Carlie recorded her 12th double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Jada Ballew and Markayla Sherman each added 6 points. Jasmyn Hardin finished with 5 points and 6 rebounds. Lajessica Olverson scored 4 points, and Quierra Drake added 2 points in the win.

Knights had difficulty all night with Princeton's defensive pressure, forcing 28 Kings' turnovers. Princeton finished the night shooting 47 percent from the floor.

The Lady Vikes will meet the Winton Woods Warriors for the District Championship at Harrison High School on Saturday, March 2 at 5:00pm.
