Home » Girls' Basketball NewsLady Vikes hold off Hamilton, Advance in Sectional TournamentFebruary 22, 2013 Princeton High SchoolThe Princeton girls' basketball team defeated Hamilton 51-44 on Thursday, February 21 at Lakota East High School. The Lady Vikes improve to 17-7 on the season, and will take on Kings Monday, February 25 at 7:30pm. A slow start by both teams, Princeton scored 15 second quarter points to take a 28-20 lead into the half. Despite a strong second half effort by Hamilton, Princeton would pull away late in the final minutes. Princeton was led by Kelsey Mitchell who finished with 17 points, 4 steals, 3 assists, and 1 block. Carlie Pogue finished 5-6 from the floor for 10 points and 4 rebounds. Jasmyn Hardin added 6 points and snatched down 8 rebounds. Chelsea Mitchell finished with 9 points, and Emily Roper chipped in 7 points in the win. The Lady Vikes shot 40 percent from the floor. Hamilton was led by a very strong performance by Jill Spurlock, who scored 37 points in the loss.
