Home » Girls' Basketball NewsLady Vikes Cruise in First RoundFebruary 16, 2013 Princeton High SchoolThe Princeton girls' basketball team defeated #32 Northwest 83-13 in the first round of the Sectional Tournament at Lakota East High School on Saturday, February 16. The 70 point win marks a new team record for the Lady Vikings. Princeton entered sectional play as the number two seed, and opened up a 27-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The defense limited Northwest to shooting 9 percent (4-44) from the field. Princeton scored 27 points off turnovers, and finished the game shooting 47 percent (39-83) from the field. The Lady Vikes showcased an even attack on offense as all players scored for Coach Phillips. Kelsey Mitchell scored a game high 18 points and dished out 16 assists. Carlie Pogue and Chelsea Mitchell each added 16 points. Pogue finished with 14 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Markayla Sherman scored 13 points, Emily Roper had 7 points, and Jada Ballew finished with 5 points. Jasmyn Hardin led all players with 15 rebounds, and added 4 points. Quierra Drake and Lajessica Olverson each scored 2 points. Princeton (16-7) will take on Hamilton at Lakota East HS on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7:30pm.
