Lady Vikes Knock Off #1 Mason

The Princeton girls' basketball team was able to do something that no other opponent has been able to do against Mason, win. The Lady Vikes handed the Comets their first loss of the season, winning 64-55 on Saturday, February 2 in a packed gymnasium at Mason High School.
The Lady Vikes jumped out quickly in the first quarter. Kelsey Mitchell scored 12 of the 19 first quarter points to give Princeton an early 19-5 lead. The Comets would cut into the early lead by outscoring the Lady Vikes, 19-16.
Leading by 11 points at the break, the Lady Vikes extended their lead to 18 points in the third quarter. However, the top ranked Comets would score 12 of their 20 fourth quarter points off Princeton turnovers to get back in game. Time on Princeton's side, the Lady Vikes mainted the lead down the stretch.
Princeton converted 13-19 free throws, and shot 41 percent (23-56) from the floor. Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with 30 points. Mitchell also had 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.
Jasmyn Hardin continued to be impressive on the glass, grabbing down 11 rebounds . She also added 6 points.
Chelsea Mitchell finished with 8 points, and both Markayla Sherman and Quierra Drake had very productive games off the bench. Sherman finished with 7 points and Drake added 6 points in the win.
The Lady Vikes will travel to Winton Woods on Wednesday, February 6 for a 7:30pm start time.
