Home » Girls' Basketball NewsLady Vikes cruise past BulldogsJanuary 15, 2013 Princeton High SchoolThe Princeton girls' basketball team cruised past the St. Ursula Bulldogs 65-37 on Monday, January 14 at Princeton High School. The Lady Vikes improve to 10-3 overall, and 8-1 inside the Greater Miami Conference. Despite a slow start from both teams, the Lady Vikes scored 25 second quarter points to give Princeton a 39-12 lead at the half. Princeton did a great job sharing the wealth on offense as nine players would score in the win. The second half was played much tighter by the Bulldogs, but the 27 point deficit in the first half was too much to overcome. Junior Carlie Pogue led the scoring and rebounding with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Chelsea Mitchell finished with 11 points and 2 steals. Coach Jill Phillips got great productivity from all her players, especially Jasmyn Hardin and Corneisha Henderson. As a duo, they combined for 14 points and 12 rebounds. Hardin, Henderson, and Pogue would lead the Lady Vikes to 25 second chance points, outrebounded the Bulldogs 35-17. Quierra Drake continued to do a good job finding the open player. She finished with a game high 5 assists and added 4 points. Jade Ballew chipped in with 7 points, and Emily Roper and LaJessica Olverson each added 5 points. The Lady Vikes will travel to Ursuline on Thursday, January 17 at 7:30pm.
