The Princeton boys' basketball team deated the Middletown Middies 74-48 on Tuesday, January 8 at Princeton High School. The win improves the Vikings' record to 6-5 overall, and 3-3 in conference play. Princeton jumped out in front early, outscoring the Middies 23-10 at the end of the first quarter. Despite the strong attack on offense by the Vikings, the Middies would bounce back in the second quarter, largly by the performance of Vincent Edwards. Edwards would score 26 first half points to close the gap at the end of the half, with Princeton leading 37-30. The second half would start very similiar to the first half, with the Vikings scoring 23 points in the third quarter. The high defense intensity and excellent ball movement in offense allowed the Vikings to be successful on offense. Senior Dorian Jordan led all scorers with 31 points. Jordan also dished out 7 assists, grabbed down 6 rebounds, and had 4 steals in the win. Deiontay Walters added 17 points and Darius Hilson would chip in 14 points for the Vikings. The Vikings had one of their best shooting performances of the season, finishing the game shooting 29-52 (55.8%) from the field. The defense forced 22 Middletown turnovers, and the first and third quarter scoring by Princeton would create too big of a hole for the Middies to climb out of. Princeton will travel to Lakota East to take on GMC leading Thunderhawks on Friday, January 11 at 7:30pm.
