Home » Girls' Basketball NewsLady Vikes Bounce Back; Cruise to 73-48 WinJanuary 6, 2013 Princeton High SchoolLosing three of their last four basketball games, the Princeton Lady Vikes bounced back with a 73-48 win over the Fairfield Indians on Saturday, January 5 at Princeton High School. The Lady Vikes improve to 7-3 overall, and 6-1 inside the Greater Miami Conference. Princeton jumped out quickly in the first quarter limiting the Indians to just 1-8 from the field and six total points in the quarter. Senior Emily Roper scored 7 of her 17 points in the first quarter to give Princeton a 20-6 lead at the end of the first. The Lady Vikes would continue the offensive attack in the second quarter, outscoring Fairfield 23-15 to give Princeton a commanding 43-21 lead at the half. Roper had the hot hand shooting in the first half, shooting 6-8 from the field, including 3-3 from behind the arc. Junior Carlie Pogue had a strong first half, scoring 14 points en route to her fifth double double of the season. Pogue would finish with a game high 19 points and 12 rebounds. Princeton shot 30-70 (42.9%) from the field, as eight players would score for Coach Phillips. Sophomore Corneisha Henderson added 9 of the team's 21 points off the bench in the win. Chelsea Mitchell finished with 8 points, including a perfect 2-2 from behind the arc. Freshman guard, Markayla Sherman added 7 points, and junior Quierra Drake finished with 4 points and a game high 6 assists. As a team, Princeton dished out 18 assists. Jasmyn Hardin chipped in with 4 points and 5 rebounds, and LaJessica Olverson posted 5 points and 6 rebounds. Princeton will return to action on Wednesday, January 9 as they host the Middletown Middies at 7:30pm.
