Lady Vikes escape Colerain with 42-39 win

The Princeton girls' basketball team escaped Colerain with a 42-39 win on Wednesday, December 19. The Lady Vikings improve to 6-1 on the season, and 5-1 inside league play.
Despite a sloppy performance from both teams, Princeton would go into the locker room with a 22-10 lead. The Cardinals would trail 26-13 in the third quarter, but would come out shooting 7-17 from the floor to outscore the Lady Vikings 17-11 in the quarter. Colerain would continue its intensity in the fourth quarter, and would draw within three points down the stretch.
Shooting just 2-13 from the floor in the fourth quarter, Princeton was able to seal the game with two clutch free throws by Chelsea Mitchell.
Princeton finished the night shooting 16-60 (26.7%) from the field, and turned the ball over 22 times.
Carlie Pogue led the scoring with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Emily Roper added 9 points and 5 rebounds.
Chelsea Mitchell chipped in 8 points, and Markayla Sherman added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the win.
The Cardinals were led by Kaylee Allen with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Jalan Latimer with 10 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.
The Lady Vikes will travel to Twinsburg, Ohio to take on Hathaway Brown in the Fight or Flight Invitational on Saturday, December 22 at 5:00pm.
