Home » Girls' Basketball NewsBig second half aids Lady Vikes winNovember 30, 2012 Princeton High SchoolAfter splitting the season series last year, the Princeton girls' basketball team travelled to Sycamore on Thursday, November 29 for a huge conference game early in the season. The Vikings trailed 40-33 at the half, but would come alive in the second half to outscore the Lady Aves 41-28 to go on to defeat Sycamore 74-68. Princeton was led by junior Kelsey Mitchell with a game high 35 points and 6 assists. Mitchell is now 20 points shy of reaching the 1,000 career point club. Coach Phillips received a strong performance from junior Carlie Pogue off the bench. Pogue recorded her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Princeton's bench outscored the Lady Aves 15-4. Princeton shot 23-62 (37.1%) from the floor, and 23-31 from the free throw line. The defense forced 18 turnovers, registered 7 blocks and 5 steals. Princeton (2-0) will travel to Lakota West on Saturday, December 1. Junior Varsity begins at 12:30pm, and the varsity game set to tip-off at 2:00pm.
