Home » Boys' Water Polo NewsVikes fall short at RegionalsOctober 24, 2012 Princeton High SchoolThe Princeton boys' water polo team failed to advance to the State Championship, after finishing 1-2 at the Regional Tournament on Saturday, October 20. In the first game, the Vikings jumped out in front 10-1 after the first quarter against GlenOak, aiding to a 18-11 win. Leading the offense was Erik Spraul (5), Dylan Dykes (4), and Jake Mazzone (3). Princeton found themselves down 8-1 after the first quarter of play against Upper Arlington. Despite a strong effort in the second and third quarter, the Bears were too much for the Vikings. Princeton would fall 17-3 to even its record to 1-1. Needing a victory to extend play, the Vikings would square off against the Bombers of St. Xavier High School. Princeton jumped out with a 2-1 lead early in the first quarter, before the Bombers would score two unaswered goals. Trailing 3-2 majority of the game, the Vikings could not seem to capitalize on the offense attack. Down 4-2 in the fourth quarter, Dylan Dykes would finally get the Vikings offense going with a goal at the 4:00 mark, but the Bombers would answer back to hold off the late rally from the Vikings. Princeton would end the season with an 8-6 loss.
