Home » Boys' Water Polo News19th Annual Packer Classic RecapSeptember 25, 2012 Princeton High SchoolHead Coach Chad Packer and the boys' water polo team hosted the 19th Annual Packer Classic September 21-22, which featured 8 different teams in the state. The Pack Classic is currently the second oldest annual tournament in Ohio. The Vikings started the weekend against #2 Thomas Worthington, as strength and depth were huge factors in the game. The Cardinals jumped out in front 5-1 in the beginning minutes of the first quarter, but the Vikings would make some defensive adjustments to go into the half trailing 8-3. The strong deep bench of Thomas Worthington provide a huge advantage in the second half, and the Vikings would come up short 15-6. Princeton would bounce back in game 2, defeating the Napoleon Wildcasts 14-7. William Cheney recorded 11 blocks and David Spraul scored 5 goals in the win. On day two of the classic, Princeton would go up against a familiar opponent, Worthington Kilbourne. The Vikings would jump out to a 7-2 halftime lead. Excellent defense and strong attacks on offense would allow Princeton seal the 13-6 victory. The final game of the classic featured the Vikings against the Bombers of St. Xavier High School. Despite a 5-0 lead at the half, St. Xavier would quickly cut the deficit to within 3 at the end of the third quarter. Erik Spraul and the defense would come up with excellent stops to allow Princeton to control the game. The Vikings would go on to defeat the Bombers 11-9.
