Home » Boys' Water Polo NewsBoys Water Reaches Ohio Cup ChampionshipSeptember 10, 2012 Princeton High SchoolThe Princeton boys' water polo team travelled to Worthington, Ohio for the annual Ohio Cup, which featured outside teams from Pennsylvania and Illinois. The Vikings opened up the weekend against Worthington Kilbourne. Despite a slow start to the game, the Vikings offense exploded. Princeton would outscore Worthington Kilbourne 10-1, finishing with a 14-7 win. Princeton continued their scoring clinic in game two of the weekend, opening up on a 11-1 run against GlenOak. The Vikings showcased excellent team play, as seven different Vikings got into the scoring mix. Princeton would improve to 2-0 on the weekend with a 13-5 victory. Game three featured the electric offense attack from the Vikings against their Columbus nemesis, Upper Arlington. Strong defensive play from both teams opened the game, with Princeton jumping out to a 1-0 lead after the first quarter of play. Upper Arlington quickly solved the Princeton defense in the second quarter, scoring six goals to lead Princeton 6-2 at the half. The Vikings' defense would allow four more goals to fall 10-3 after the third quarter play, and would remain in control in the fourth quarter. Princeton would fall 13-5, but would qualify for championship play. In championship play, Princeton would go up against the Sycamore Aviators, who the Vikings lost two 11-6 just two days ago. The Aves' defense contained the Princeton offense, defeating the Vikings 12-2.
