Washington Wins Union Invitational

The Washinton Blue Jays claimed the title of the 19th annual Union Invitational on Saturday with a 10-9 come from behind win over Park Hills Central. Warrenton took third with a 14-2 win over Pacific while Farmington won the consolation championship beating Borgia 17-2.
The Union Ladycats claimed seventh place with a 10-0 five inning victory over Louisiana. Kirsten Dierberg pitched a no-hitter in the game. In the opening round game, Union lost a heart-breaker as Park Hills scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning after Union twice held leads late in the ball game but couldn't seal the deal. After shutting out Borgia forty eight hours earlier on Thursday, Borgia pounded out a 14-8 consolation semifinal victory over the Ladycats on Saturday. Union's current record is 2-2.
