Future Tar Heel guides West to All-Star Boys hoop win

GREENSBORO
-- Jackson Simmons showed why he's going to play at North Carolina in the fall.

Simmons was named the MVP in Tuesday's East-West All-Star Game after scoring 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds to help the West beat the East 100-93 at the Greensboro Coliseum.

The West leads the series 32-31.

Simmons, who shot 7 for 15 from the field, said it was some sense of redemption after losing his first two all-star games he played - the North Carolina-South Carolina All-Star Game and the Jordan Brand All-Star Game.

"It was great. This is such a prestigious all-star game," said Simmons, who played at Smoky Mountain. "I came in the mindset of wanting that goal (MVP), but at the same time, I didn't let it overshadow me because I wanted to win this game."
