McDowell football team forfeits season's only win

MARION - McDowell has forfeited its only win this football season because of the use of an ineligible player.
The Titans beat North Buncombe, 26-6, on Oct. 6 in Marion.
The Mountain Athletic Conference game now goes down as a 1-0 victory for the Black Hawks (2-9). They were informed of the situation during the final week of the regular season, North Buncombe coach Carey Metts said.
"We had a kid transfer in, and his transcript was kind of screwy to say the least," McDowell athletic director Dennis Blake said.
