Former UNC star to coach at Northwood

PITTSBORO - Northwood High School has hired its next boys basketball coach.
Former Garner High School and University of North Carolina star Donald Williams will lead the Chargers' boys basketball program this season.
Williams, 39, takes over for Russ Frazier who left Northwood to take over the Leesville Road basketball program.
A native of Garner, Williams played college basketball for the Tar Heels where he helped UNC to the 1993 NCAA National Championship, earning Most Outstanding Player honors. He scored 25 points in the game, hitting five 3-pointers.
