Former Durham Riverside star on Olympic volleyball team

DURHAM-- Former Durham Riverside High School standout athlete Megan Hodge will participating in the London Olympics.

Hodge, who received a number of honors during her career at Riverside, is an outside hitter on Team USA.  She was the Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year in 2006, After her graduation from high school, she went on to star at Penn State and earned a number of honors there.

She has been playing volleyball professionally in Europe.

The American team is ranked number one in the world by the International Volleyball Federation and is the defending Olympic champion. Brazil is also considered a major medal contender and will be in the same pool as the United States for play in London.

Hodge and her teammates have been training in Anaheim, California, at the U.S. Olympic volleyball headquarters.
