2012 NCHSAA State Baseball Playoff Schedule - Finals series

The pairings and the schedules are set for the 96th annual North Carolina High School Athletic Association state baseball championships.

This year the 1-A and 4-A best-of-three championship series will be held at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, and the 2-A and 3-A finals will be played at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, home of the Carolina Mudcats.  Doak Field at N.C. State has hosted a couple of championship series annually for a number of years, but this year N.C. State is hosting an NCAA baseball regional and the facility is not available.

Play is scheduled to get underway on Friday in all four series.

CLASS 4-A: DURHAM BULLS ATHLETIC PARK, DURHAM

CORNELIUS W.A. HOUGH (23-10) vs. APEX MIDDLE CREEK (24-7)

Game 1: Friday, June 1 at 8 p.m.; Game 2: Saturday, June 2 at 2 pm; Game 3: if necessary, Saturday, June 2 at 8 pm (5 pm if no third game in 1-A)

 

CLASS 3-A: FIVE COUNTY STADIUM, ZEBULON

PIKEVILLE CHARLES B. AYCOCK (21-9) vs. WEDDINGTON (26-6)

Game 1: Friday, June 1, 5 pm.; Game 2: Saturday, June 2, 11 am; Game 3: if necessary, Saturday, June 2 at 5 pm


CLASS 2-A: FIVE COUNTY STADIUM, ZEBULON

RANDLEMAN (29-4) vs. WHITEVILLE (24-5)

Game 1: Friday, June 1, 8 pm; Game 2: Saturday, June 2, 2 pm; Game 3: if necessary, Saturday, June 2, 8 pm (5 pm if no third game in 3-A)

Tickets: Eight dollars per game

Of Interest: Last year's Most Valuable Player in the 4-A championship series, Carlos Rodon of Holly Springs, was Pitcher of the Year in the Atlantic Coast Conference for North Carolina State this spring as well as the conference Freshman of the Year.

Durham Voyager Academy, in the 1-A Championship Series, is in its first season of baseball and the school has no juniors or seniors in its student body.
