Pattonville High School 2011

August 26, 2011
By Amber Pearce of Great American Football Classic - St. Louis

The 2010 Pirates were a playoff team with a 7-4 record, graduating 22 seniors.  Last years team had a lot of varsity experience and quality senior leadership.  Coming back for the 2011 football campaign they have 4 returning starts on defense, and two returning starters on offense.

The Pirates are excited to be a part of the first GAFC.  They’re in a unique situation this year at Pattonville, with their stadium under construction, all of the games will be played on the road.  To have an opportunity to play in the dome for a “home game” is a treat the seniors are very excited to have.

"This year will be a year to remember I’m sure.  We have a very young team, no stadium, no locker-room, no place to call home…DOESN’T MATTER!! We just want to play football.  We have a chance as a coaching staff to see young men grow right before our eyes.  We’ll find out a lot about our character as a team.  How well we can handle adversity and dealing with situations other teams don’t have to worry about every week.  It’s going to be a challenge, but I believe we’re willing to take this challenge head on."

- Coach Steve Smith
