Home » Basketball NewsGame Preview - Paul Laurence Dunbar Bulldogs at Lafayette GeneralDecember 4, 2012 By William Warfield of Central Kentucky NetworkTonight on iHigh.com it's basketball season in the CKY when the Lafayette Generals host the Paul Laurence Dunbar Bulldogs. The Generals are lead by second year Head Coach Michael Mendenhall. Four star junior small forward Jackson Davis is the main attraction in this one. The 6'8" 190 lbs. Davis has interest brewing in several D-1 schools including Illinois, Cincinnati, Louisville, UCLA, Purdue, and Butler. Davis averaged 13.9 pts, 3 blocks, and 9 rebounds a game last season. Senior forward Nick Trisko returns along with seniors Tranard Chester and Charles Sweat Washington who all chipped in last season. Lafayette opened the season on the road with a loss to Bullitt East.
Not to be over shadowed by Davis, Dunbar comes into this game under first year Head Coach Scott Chalk. The Bulldogs leading score from last season returns in senior William Gary who averaged 18.8 points per game in 2011. Dunbar also has a host of talent in the starting lineup in fellow seniors Mike Smith who averaged 19.3 ppg last season, Taylor King who shot 57 percent from behind the arc, and Mr. Hustle Jamal Abu Peasah.
Last season the two schools split the pair of games they played. Lafayette was the 43rd District runner up.
